2007 State Competition Overview

Miss Maryland Recap!
Miss Allegany County Shana Powell was crowned the new Miss Maryland on Saturday during the 72nd annual Miss Maryland Scholarship Pageant at The Maryland Theatre. As the new Miss Maryland, Powell, of Bowie, Md., will receive a $9,000 scholarship and other gifts. She also will represent the state at the upcoming Miss America pageant.
 

Other winners were:
 

First runner-up - Miss Pride of the Potomac Ryann Richardson of Bowie, Md., winner of a $4,000 scholarship.
 

Second runner-up - Miss Caroline Summerfest Lindsay Staniszewski of Swan Point, Md. winner of a $3,000 scholarship.
 

Third runner-up - Miss Prince Georges County Vickie Kalasinsky of Olney, Md., winner of a a $2,000 scholarship.
 

Fourth runner-up - Miss College Park Shannon Beam of Lanham, Md., winner of a $1,500 scholarship.
 

Scholarships also were awarded to the top ten semifinalists Brittany McNeil, Heather Molnar, Jenna Riscigno, Cheryl Gill, Whitney Colombo and the nonfinalist contestants.

Top Interview, Rookie of the Year and Preliminary Newcomer Talent: Shana Powell, Top Talent & Preliminary Newcomer Talent: Ryann Richardson, Preliminary Swimsuit: Lindsay Staniszewski, Miss America Community Service: Cheryl Gill, Preliminary Swimsuit: Heather Molnar, Miss America Academic Award & Preliminary Talent: Vickie Kalsinsky, Non-Finalist Interview: Louise Schlegal and Gabrielle Carlson. Non-Finalist Talent: Sara Duncan, Angel Bennett, Kristena Wright.
